tl;dr in the meantime: Meshtastic has fixed a lot of their early mistakes in newer firmware. That plus a good preset makes it a modern, functional mesh. LongFast is terrible and full of abandoned nodes polluting the airwaves with traffic. MeshOregon (meshtastic) and Meshcore serve different needs and can coexist. We like MeshOregon (wonder why), but MeshCore is cool too and there are valid use cases for it, which we will list.
